Reflective writing

I made a list of everything I could think of that spins, so that I either film or find on YouTube to add onto my film to create a spinning or disorientating effect. One of the many videos I watched with merry go rounds and rollercoasters worked well when I sped it up, as it had many colours. I found that a lot of videos were more informative, and worked as ‘vlogs’ of people going on their roller coasters, but not actually filming what they see from the bottom, which is what I was looking for. Luckily, there was an opening ceremony celebration which was filmed on YouTube which showed the entirety of the roller coaster going round several times. I went onto Adobe Premiere and sped it up to 1000, as I felt this suited the speed of the song. I was very happy with the result as the colours were very vibrant, which worked well with the song. Previous videos i had watched were quite grey which i didn't think suited my film at all.

I watched many videos of people spinning a basketball on their finger, as I was really interested in that concept for my film. Many of them aren't long enough or tutorials which did not show the spinning for long enough. Eventually I found a video explaining the motion behind spinning a basketball, which worked perfectly as it really showed the ball spinning well. Again, speeding the video up to 1000 on Premiere Pro worked well.

I remembered watching the music video to Melancholy Bliss by Gorillaz, especially seeing how Jamie Hewlett animated characters onto video, and also just adding little symbols and drawings onto moving images, by tracing over them in cartoonish styles. I decided to use the same technique for my animation which was a really interesting experience that I hadn’t tried before. I exported the video onto ProCreate which separated it frame by frame. This meant that I could draw directly onto the video smoothly. I really enjoyed doing this, as I learnt a new technique used very often in animation.
